One word - headroom.
Denon have reduced the level to prevent overload. Digital distortion is nasty.
Once you have (potentially) four tracks all playing at once, adding FX on top, maybe pushing your levels…it’s very easy to overload the signal.
If you search the forum you will find many complaints about how low the recording level is, and suggestions about how it could be addressed.
One possible solution would be for Denon to route the master output (which has a limiter) to the recording rather than have a separate feed.
