Numark's Mixstream Pro running on Engine OS

Rane also would be neat

I have a seasoned DJ friend that was looking at the Prime GO and let her use mine, she’s sick of hauling a MBP and Pioneer controller to club and festival gigs. She loved the Prime GO but didn’t like the EQ layout on the Prime GO and it’s wasn’t enough to make her move from a Pioneer controller and laptop.

I sent her the Mojaxx review and has placed an order online for the Mixstream Pro. If anyone is poo-pooing this unit as “entry bedroom DJ and weak speakers” you’re wrong, the speaker idea is useful, it’s great for mobile and club/festival events. At the end of the day NO ONE CARES what you use except other DJs, and they don’t pay the rent.

You mentioned the Mojaxx review, but did you watch it? He poo-pooed on it. Watch it again. This is entry level from build, to sound quality, to flexibility on effects, etc. More power to your friend if she can get away with it but personally I wouldn’t make it my go-to to pay rent. I guarantee that they were some cost-cutting measure implemented to get it to this price point.

Nadszedł czas by wrócić do Numarka  Redirecting... Po co płacić tyle pieniędzy skoro można mieć Standalone DJ Systems za tak smieszne pieniądze  Widzę że jesteśmy totalnie oszukiwani przez właścicieli denon, numarak i rane…

Quote “This thing is absolutely staggering for the money” - that doesn’t sound like poo-pooing to me.

Of course something has to give when the unit is half the price of the Go, but that doesn’t make it worthless.

and on the display it shows the name of the cue points as we are asking to have on the Prime 4, but for now we have not yet managed to obtain! :slightly_frowning_face:

That’s done in Engine desktop, but I can check here.

Well, ‘poo-poo’ is a bit strong I’ll admit. I do think the Mixstream Pro is a great board…for beginners. If you’re on a budget than it makes sense. If one is serious about their craft, I advise making the investment in a professional level board. Not for looks, but to ensure that you have to what it takes to get the job done without limitations or concerns.

Like this? You can do it in Engine desktop & name the loops

I think this is a great move from InMusic.

This isn’t going to be for everyone, however I could see this being more fun to mix on than my Prime Go, but clearly not as well built. Throw in an omni 20 powerbank (for 12v DC) pop it on a table/kitchen worktop/your lap and have fun.

The speakers look similar to those used on the Akai MPC Live 2.

The sharing of tech from Denon, Numark, Akai and Rane can only be a good thing and the fact that not only has Engine 2.0 launched, but they also incorporated it into a new piece of hardware, the team has clearly been very busy.

Very good move by Inmusic. Everybody knows the future is standalone - hardware is already cheap enough to build entry level gear. Denon is way ahead in this game - Started the "concept " with the 5000’s and now engine runs on gear from entry level to high end. Engine (OS and DJ) only needs some polishing to be THE system to have.

Congrats to everyone involved!!!

I’ve been ready to ditch the laptop for sometime. I used to swear by Serato. Albeit it great software, I used to catch myself at gigs doing the LAPTOP FACE. Since moving to the Prime 4 and SC’s, I haven’t touched Serato.

I played on one today, it’s good but does feel very budget which is what it is right. Great for young peeps looking to get into DJing and don’t have a collection of music so can use the streaming services.

Personally the GO for me is head and shoulders above this for anyone who’s making the comparison. GO just feels way more solid, richer feature set and more outputs & inputs. Yes the GO has tiny jog wheels but when I’m using a device that small I wouldn’t be looking to cut and scratch but use it mainly for blending.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great for the target market it’s aimed for and getting people to adopt Engine DJ early in their careers is the key here.

Yes I know that the name can be assigned with Engine DJ, but in Prime 4 it will be displayed on the moving waveform and not at the bottom as it happens on the SC6000 or on this new object.

No, I mean this:

Maybe because of the 2 channels. How does it look on Prime2 and GO next to Prime4?

Prime 4 has the same display as SC6000 and Prime 4 in horizontal view mode always shows only 2 waveforms, so the GUI of SC6000 (dual deck mode) and Prime 4 (horizontal waves) would be identical and could show the same information.

My assumption is the amount of overall data that the Prime 4 displays vs the SC’s is significantly more (4 channel view, library view with waves, vertical view, playlist view). For consistency, the decision had to be made of what can and can’t be displayed properly.

In Prime 4 when we only use 2 decks, we have the same amount of information as SC.

I would encourage you to submit a feature request.

Actually there is no official request (or at least I have not found it) but I remembered that it had been talked about long ago. Maybe I insert it … I recommend you all go and rate it !!
