Is the X1850 configurable as MIDI with macOS 10.15 and does it work with Ableton Live? I had to sell my previous X1700 because support after OS X 10.11 was deprecated.

X1700 audio interface was not supported under newer Mac OS. MIDI still worked fine.

Yes, it does. You have 4 input and 5 output audio channels and MIDI statements send from the X1850 like MIDI Start/Stop can be assigned in Ableton Live. Please see also https://community.enginedj.com/t/ableton-link/13592
