VL12 Tonearm replacement

Hi,

I have just bought an VL12, which appears to have an issue with the tonearm, and looks like it will need replacing - has anyone ever replaced one? Is it even possible?

Thanks.

I own a VL12 and I really enjoy it for mixing, but I am not keen on scratching with it as I find the tonearm to be on the light side.

I saw a few videos on YouTube late last year from a guy who fixes up and repairs Technics Turntables for a living who was a keen Techno DJ and owned a Denon VL12 and talked about the same issue I had of the only gripe with it being the tonearm and said that he would look into doing a video on replacing it.

I’ve not seen an update since, but I’m thinking it may be possible with further research.

This is the guy who refurbishes turntables and talks about replacing the tone arm on a VL12.

I did try to reach out to him on the matter, but no response.

This was all pre-pandemic though, so maybe something could still happen …
