I have the Prime 4 since january and I’m loving it so far! But I found a bug that sometimes is frustrating. When I’m scrolling through one playlist, it often happens that the playlist suddently jumps at the first track, forcing me to scroll back to the point I wanted to go. I don’t think it’s a problem of the USB drive since it’s a super fast one by Seagate, and the issue happened also with an external hard disk. Anyone has the same problem? How can I solve this? Also, I noticed that in “utility” it says “update available” even if I don’t have any update file in my usb, and I have the last firmware version (1.4.1)!

For the moment there is no new firmware: we are still at 1.4.1
The flaw you indicate, is manifested when you scroll in the playlist via the display (with the touch) or using the central wheel?
Thank you for the reply. Yes I know there is no new firmware, but it’s normal that the software shows me there is un update? The issue happens even if I scroll with the wheel. Sometimes I’m not even scrolling and it “refreshes” to the start track for then jumping back to the right track I was selecting at that moment. This happens in a matter of half a second.
Tonight I will check if mine indicates that there is an update or not: I think so but I am going to memory, but now I ignore it. But tomorrow I’ll tell you better.
Instead for the playlist problem: do you use the horizontal or vertical view? That is, do you scroll the track list directly on the same page with the waveforms (vertical) or each time press the small button under the wheel to switch to the library (horizontal view)?
Ok thank you, much appreciated. For the playlist, I always use horizontal view using “back” or “view” button. I’m a bit worried because it seems to be a not so common problem.
2 questions to help track down:
- Does it happen if a (new) track plays around 30 seconds (play state of a playing track toggles color from white to green)
- Does it happen on USB or streaming playlist?
First question: YES! OMG I never realized that. When the track turns from white to green the playlist “refreshes” causing the lag and sorting the selected track as first. It seems that if this refresh happens while I’m scrolling there is the risk to return to the top of the playlist. Second question: I only use USB.
This is an interesting detail: I will try to scroll the list when the track being listened to changes the color.
As for the other checks, these are the results:
- My Prime4 does not indicate that there is an update available, but a button appears with the word “Check Update” (or similar words): probably if you have WIFI activated with P4 connected to the internet, it can check for new updates (but I have WIFI off and I have not tried).
- I tried to play a playlist both vertically and horizontally and I had no problems: the highlighted track was always the last loaded on the decks and it never came back. But I will have to try scrolling when the track turns green (as I wrote above).
Thank you for checking yours. So this update thing is a bit strange, maybe I have to do a factory reset or something? Is there the possibility of having corrupted the firmware? I’m seriously thinking of doing a “factory reset” also because of the playlist bug. I’m not even using wifi, it’s always deactivated.

it happens to me too, I think it’s an unresolved bug. It does not affect the operation, but I recognize that it is a bit annoying.
I advise you not to do anything, let’s wait for the next update and see if they solve this thing. We hope to arrive soon … we should be there by now.

@albajack97 siccome la mia P4 non indica che c’è un aggiornamento, ma solo mostra il pulsante per fare il check, presumo che la mia non ha quel problema. L’unica cosa che io ho fatto che può aver sistemato questa indicazione fasulla è stata quella di connettere la P4 ad internet con il WIFI (come per voler utilizzare Tidal), poi ho pigiato il pulsante che indicava la presenza dell’aggiornamento (alcune settimane fa). Ora non me lo indica più, quindi potrebbe essere questa la soluzione: farle controllare direttamente tramite WIFI se c’è o no sto aggiornamento.
Oddio ancora meglio haha non ci avevo fatto caso! 
Ok quindi si tu dici che se la faccio connettere ad internet automaticamente si rende conto della non presenza dell’aggiornamento… proverò!
Per il problema playlist se è un bug irrisolto allora non resta che aspettare un ulteriore aggiornamento della casa madre, speriamo bene! Grazie a tutti per le risposte!
Io non posso confermarlo, perchè devo provare a scrollare tra le tracce quando cambiano il colore. Per ciò che ti hanno scritto @max_stereomode e @REIS non so a quale dei due problemi si riferivano: secondo me si riferivano alla storia del “firmware update”, non alla playlist, ma sentiamo loro…
No, mi riferivo al problema delle playlist. Ad un certo punto, mentre scrolli e quando meno te l’aspetti, la schermata sfarfalla velocemente e si resetta l’ordine delle canzoni… e la schermata torna in cima alla lista. Questo è un BUG grande come una casa. Io ho installato un hard disc interno crucial SSD da 1TB, quindi il meglio che c’è in circolazione. Il problema è proprio del sistema operativo della PRIME 4. BUG ALERT!!!
Io ho provato a scorrere nella playlist mentre la traccia in esecuzione cambia colore (diventa verde) ma non ho alcun problema: la barra di selezione della traccia resta esattamente dove si trova. Potete spiegare quali sono le operazioni da compiere per vedere questo bug? Visualizzazione orizzontale o verticale? Nella playlist della libreria (vista grande) oppure nella playlist visualizzata piccola con la vista verticale? Siete partiti dalla traccia #1 oppure da un punto casuale nella playlist?
Bravissimo è esattamente quello che succede anche a me.
@DjAj forse è un problema che si presenta solo in alcune unità ma non so spiegarne il motivo. Magari c’è qualcosa che non va nel momento del trasferimento tra pc a hard drive? Comunque le operazioni sono semplicissime:
- Carica una traccia (meglio se presa da metà playlist) e falla partire;
- Torna alla visualizzazione orizzontale;
- Quando la traccia diventa verde avverrà lo sfarfallio.
Torno a sottolineare che questo può comportare il tornare ad inizio playlist, se si sta scrollando mentre avviene lo sfarfallio. Una mia ipotesi è che durante lo sfarfallio la playlist torna per qualche decimo di secondo in cima e poi si rimette alla nostra posizione desiderata, il problema è che quindi durante lo scrolling c’è la possibilità di selezionare proprio quelle tracce in cima alla playlist, apparse per pochissimo tempo.
Ciao ragazzi, allora questo è un bug del software sicuramente, che per carità non preclude l’uso della consolle, ma se ci mettono un FIX il prima possibile sarebbe meglio. Mi pareva d’aver letto in giro che era già stato segnalato questo errore, quindi aspettiamo e speriamo. (i tempi biblici ormai li conosciamo)
Anch’io uso un SSD interno Crucial da 1T, uso la forma d’onda orizzontale, e quando richiamo la playlist o anche una cassa qualsiasi, non sempre, ma capita qualche volta a random, che scrollando con l’encoder, ci sia uno sbalzo della schermata inatteso. Non ne faccio un dramma, ma spero lo risolvano.
Non c’entra nulla a mio avviso per il cambio di colore della traccia, quello avviene dopo 30sec dalla sua attivazione sul deck, proprio per ricordare le tracce suonate da quelle no. Per me non c’è correlazione con il problema che stiamo evidenziando.
@REIS mi fa piacere sentire che sia già stato segnalato, speriamo bene. Dopo le indicazioni di @addie ho provato a notare se lo sfarfallio avveniva in concomitanza del passaggio di colore della traccia (quindi dopo 30 sec) ed effettivamente a me succede così. Anche senza scrollare, se sto nella visuale playlist orizzontale, quando la traccia cambia colore la schermata sfarfalla. Sicuramente abbiamo comunque lo stesso problema software alla base.
