I would like to be able to connect via WiFi my iPad to the prime 4 so that I can load in playlists and select tracks to play without being in front of the prime 4. Ideal if I need a bathroom break or want a drink from the bar or to socialise with guests at a party.

The idea is neat, but how will you use the channel faders ? You could only leave them all open, but than you ran into an issue if the tracks have different volumes. What you could do is: Use one of the channels with a bluetooth audio dongle, and then you could stream some music from the pad via bluetooth to the prime.
