Add samples with external keyboard

Hi, Is there any possibility to add samples via engine prime to launch it from an external keyboard? Thnaks

Sort of.

An external usb keyboard can mimic some of the buttons that are on the deck itself. However as you’ve posted in the Engine Prime section, I guess you mean something for triggering samples while using the Engine Prime library software at home on your desktop or laptop.

As engine prime isn’t on-stage performance software, only home preparation/ library software, the best you can do is maybe use keyboard shortcuts to trigger the hot cues.

What a lot of people do is record up to 8 or their fav samples onto one music track and save a hot cue pad to the beginning of each of the 8 samples. Then you can just load that track and launch the 8 samples by pressing the appropriate hot cue pad.

If the usb keyboard allows buttons f1 to f8 to mimic the 8 hot cue pads then that could be your answer.

Your other option is an all-in-one sampler to add on, like the akai mpx8 or akai mpx16 which have high performance dedicated tech , a display and 8 or 16 respectively performance pads for triggering the samples loaded into the mpx

I’m sure there’s a list of engine primes keyboard shortcuts on the forum somewhere

Thanks so much
