Feature Requests for the Engine Prime - Combined

  1. Sorting columns to display bitrate. This will be essential especially to delete lower bitrate when one is trimming library fat.

  2. Show doubles and also perhaps an additional option that extra files are checked for deleting in one swoop. Also very handy feature to trim library fat.

  3. Ability to edit multiple tags at once. Select multiple file, and edit multiple tags.

  4. Flexible beat grid.

  5. Negative beat grid numbering. - 4, - 3 - 2, - 1, 1, 2, 3, 4 etc

  6. I’m not sure there is autogain analysis option. Will be nice to have this too.

  7. Prevent tracks in main usb collection from getting exported/added from Laptop source again if the primary location is unchanged. But can be added to playlist crate from the external drive collection.eg if a song is in multiple crates.

Feel free to add other features you will like to see.

I know this is a subject it’s already been discussed on here but I don’t think it’s been thoroughly addressed. Here is what I’m experiencing. Please keep in mind I’m hoping to make the jump from Serato to the Denon Primes Laptop free! And I think it can be a smooth transition as long as engine primes beat gridding controls were refined.

My steps… -Analyzed my whole library through Engine Prime (15K songs) -Hotcues came across but beatgrids were off on 30% of my files could not adjust them correctly due to Engine Primes beatgridding limitations

  • Purchased 2 SC5000 loaded up my flash drive and I was rolling and having fun until i hit a song that wasn’t peeped correctly due to beat grids and BPM being off.

I am migrating my workflow from Serato DJ and Beatgridding is an important part of my file management workflow.

I’m an open format DJ so I have a lot of different genres of music. If we we were all “House Music” DJ’s this wouldn’t be an issue.

If the Staff at Denon can figure out how to fully manipulate the beat grid with out manipulating the pitch of the song this would be the best platform on the market. If you need an example just check out Serato’s beatgridding capabilities, they are second to none.

Keep up the good work guys! if you need song expample I can send you them and I can also send you video how I beat grid those same songs in Serato with no issues.

Many DJ’s are using Mixed in Key, aka MIK, and I’m looking into the options in relationship with Engine Prime.

MIK can determine the key of the song, the energy level and is able to create up to 8 cue points.

From the MIK notes I learned that the key can be imported into Serato, Traktor and Rekordbox, is it also posible to import the MIK key field into Engine or will engine overwrite it with it’s own determined key.

2: Serato and Traktor can “import”/use the created cue points from MIK, Rekordbox can’t import these or maybe better said Pioneer doesn’t allow this. Would like to know if Engine Prime can import the cue points created by MIK or are there plans to do this?

I know that it is better to create your own cue points but I have a bunch of crates with 100’s songs I have yet to set cue points for, if MIK can set these then at least I have something which is better then nothing and later on I still can imprve the qualitiy of these cue when I touch such a song.
